We are turning one-year-old this weekend! We would like to extend a heartfelt thank all of the brides we’ve had the pleasure of serving in our first year in business. To celebrate our milestone we will be having a one day sale. Everything that is ordered on Saturday March 5th will be 10% off! Everything you say? Yes, everything, even the Ersa Atelier, so don’t miss this amazing opportunity!
This is an excellent question, that I’m afraid has gotten a little confusing thanks to a certain TLC hit show featuring a very charming gent named Randy….
Yes, I love Say Yes To The Dress as much as the next warm-blooded female, but we must remember one thing when we watch this show: it’s TELEVISION, in other words, it’s not reality. Yes, ladies, there is no such thing as reality on TV. Sorry. Have you heard the thing about Santa Claus too?…
Thanks to the popularity of this show, Alessandra and her team have noticed that entourages are getting much, much bigger. Because of this she has asked me to to take this opportunity to point out some of the issues that can arise when you shop with a larger group. For one thing, it takes a lot of the focus off of the bride. Remember, it’s her day, and ultimately she is the one wearing the gown; not her future mother in law, best friend, mother, hairstylist, or cousin’s cousin’s friend who is a bridal consultant. In other words, the bride can get confused. And hurt. We’ve seen way too many brides in tears due to unkind things (intentional or unintentional) said by her group. We’ve also seen brides say yes to a dress and then call us the next day crying that the dress she said yes to was “just not me”.
What’s a bride to do? We are certainly not saying that you shouldn’t bring your trusted friends and advisors to your appointment. By all means, they know you better than we do and can help you in the process. Just don’t include anyone that might not be a necessary part of the decision. We recommend two or three of your nearest and dearest who love you unconditionally and whose opinions you value. Any more than that, and your appointment could get too chaotic. Also, we love children but they can also pull focus from the bride and cause chaos. If possible, get a sitter or family member to watch young children so the focus can stay on The Bride.
Remember ladies, it’s your big day, you have to feel beautiful and true to yourself.
